Although the nature reserves managed by Eastern Cape Parks cover an area of 438,000 hectares, our commitment to protecting biodiversity and conservation of the different biomes will see a total increase of this area by 10,000 hectares annually, mutually beneficial relationships with neighbouring communities and the preservation of natural resources.
We also aim to develop these national assets in such a way that nature tourism, in stead of hunting, will generate the necessary funds to make the abovementioned visions come true.
We have large reserves, like the 184,385ha Baviaanskloof Nature Reserve and small ones, like the 400ha forested valley reserve of Silaka on the Wild Coast. This provides a unique character to each of our reserves and a new experience at each to the tourist who wants to make a tour of our reserves.
Accommodation ranges from luxurious lodges and renovated classic Cape-style farm homesteads to wooden chalets, bungalows, rustic cabins and hikers huts. Picnic and camping sites are available at selected reserves.
